EXPLANATIONS
Once you have deposited your form for this apostolate, you will be allocated into a group of “six” people who have declared that they will fast. Each of the six people will be fasting on a different day of the week. We will also inform you about a saint or a blessed who has been chosen for you to guard you and support you during the 40 day fast. We will inform you of the start date of your 40 day Fasting Apostolate.
During your chosen fast day we encourage you to pray and participate in the Holy Mass and to receive the Holy Eucharist.
Type of Fasting: This can be (depending on your health and age) of various sorts. You could also vary these, for example: not to eat sweets, not to listen to music, not to watch television, not to use internet apart from essentials, give up half of you usual food, or fast on bread and water.
If you are bed-ridden you can choose to fast as part of a group called, The Group of Suffering, and this group is under the patronage of St. Lazarus. We encourage you to offer Merciful Jesus all your pains and aches, and other discomforts resulting from your illness as atonement for the sins of the dying. You can choose how often you do this: for one month, two months, a year etc.
The Apostolate of the Dying meets once a month in Kraków-Łagiewniki (new basilica) at 6pm every first Tuesday of the month. There is adoration from 5.30pm till Mass time. We deposit on the altar all our offerings of fasting, prayer etc, asking for God’s Mercy for the dying souls who are in the greatest need. We encourage you to serve the dying who, so very often, can only count on you. www.apostolatratunkukonajacym.pl end www.milosierdzie.pl
To Glorify God’s Mercy and to Come to the Aid of the Dying
Why do we undertake the Apostolate of Coming to the Aid of the Dying?
– We want to come to the aid of the souls at the hour of their death, asking God to grant them trust in God’s Mercy.
– We want to recompense the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus for the sins of the dying.
– Every soul needs God’s Mercy
– Remembering today of the dying we recompense Jesus also for ourselves.
YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN US
The Holy Mass for the dying is the ultimate help offered by all in our apostolate. If you are interested and would like to be merciful towards the dying, we invite you to join us every first Tuesday of the month at 6pm in the Basilica of Divine Mercy in Kraków-Łagiewniki. The Eucharistic adoration starts 30 minutes before the Mass.
Atonement –you can take part in this mission by joining a group of “six”. You choose your day of the week when you promise to fast, atone and pray. When six people have come forward making up one week (from Monday to Saturday) we will inform you when your atonement group will commence their work over a period of 40 days. The intention of the “six” is always the same: we atone for the sins of the dying who are hurting the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Your chosen atonement day is a day of particular closeness to Jesus and His Mercy, hence we encourage you to participate in the Holy Mass and to partake of the Holy Eucharist in the spirit of atonement for all the sins of the dying.
Adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist– this is a 24 hour continuous adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration in the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Kraków-Łagiewniki. It takes place every Friday of the month and is offered for the dying. We are dressed in white waistcoats just like a lifeguard, and from midnight, we take turns every hour to stay praying and begging for God’s Mercy for all the dying.
Perpetual Guard –when some are praying in the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration by the Heart of Jesus, others visit the dying. We read in the Diary of St Faustina:”At the hour of their death, I will defend as My own glory, every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same. When (205)this chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, God’s anger is placated, unfathomable Mercy envelops the soul, and the very depths of My tender Mercy are moved for the sake of the sorrowful Passion of My Son.” (811) We go in pairs to people’s homes, care-homes and hospitals where the dying are to be found, and we become as if one family, so that nobody would feel alone and abandoned. This small victory obtained in the rays of God’s Mercy right by the deathbed, becomes an eternal victory for the dying soul.
